Dr hab. Bogdan Fornal
from Institute of Nuclear Physics, Kraków
for his studies of neutron-rich nuclei excited in deep-inelastic heavy-ion collisions, and in particular for his discovery of the neutron N=32 magic gap.
The Diploma of the Prize for the year 2004 was awarded at a gala ceremony during the XXIX Mazurian Lakes Conference on Physics Nuclear Physics and the Fundamental Processes, which took place in Piaski, Poland, August 30 – September 6, 2005. Within a special session, the laureate gave an invited lecture concerning his scientific research titled „Evolution of Shell Structure in the Neutron-Rich Nuclei above 48Ca” (pdf).
The award ceremony was honored by the presence of Prof. Zdzisław Szymański’s children – Anna and Paweł Szymański.
