Zdzisław Szymański Prize for the year 2019 has been awarded to
Dr Javier Menéndez
from Center for Nuclear Study, The University of Tokyo
for crucial developments to extend ab initio theory to the structure of for outstanding contributions to theoretical studies of nuclear structure, in particular for profound insights relevant to the search for neutrino-less double beta decay and the detection of dark matter nuclei, and for his contributions to the solution of a long-standing puzzle regarding Gamow-Teller beta-decay rates.
The Diploma was awarded on September 9th during the XXXV Mazurian Lakes Conference of Physics held in September 1–6, 2019 at Piaski, Poland.
Dr Steven Ragnar Stroberg received the Prize from the Dean of the Faculty of Physics of the University of Warsaw Prof. Dariusz Wasik.
The award ceremony was honored by the presence of Prof. Zdzisław Szymański’s children – Anna and Paweł Szymański.
