Zdzisław Szymański Prize for the year 2002 has been awarded to
Dr hab. Piotr Magierski
from Warsaw University of Technology
for his research concerning shell effects in fermionic systems from atomic nuclei, through mesoscopic systems to neutron stars.
The Diploma of the Prize for the year 2002 has been awarded at a gala ceremony during the XXVIII Mazurian Lakes Conference on Physics, where the laureate gave an invited lecture concerning his scientific research.
Dr hab. Piotr Magierski received the Prize from Prof. Zdzisław Szymański’s wife, Wiesława Szymańska.
An official ceremony took place on October 6, 2003 at 4 pm at the Faculty of Physics of the Warsaw University in Warsaw, during a special open session of the Faculty Council.
The award ceremony was honored by the presence of Prof. Zdzisław Szymański’s wife, Wiesława Szymańska and the performance of the piece A kaleidoscope for M.C.E., composed by Paweł Szymański, by cellist Mikołaj Pałosz.
