Zdzisław Szymański Prize for the year 2013 has been awarded to
Prof. Achim Schwenk
from Technische Universität, Darmstadt
in recognition of his contributions to the field of experimental studies of nuclear reactions of astrophysical relevance, in particular for developing extensions of the Trojan Horse Method to resonant reactions, including subthreshold resonances
The Diploma was awarded at the Physics Department of University of Warsaw on November 7, 2013. The Laureate delivered a lecture (pdf) entitled „Three-body forces: From exotic nuclei to neutron stars”.
Prof. Achim Schwenk received the Prize from the Vice dean of the Faculty of Physics of the University of Warsaw Dr hab. Marek Karny and director of the Institute of Theoretical Physics, Prof. Wojciech Satuła.
The award ceremony was honored by the presence of Prof. Zdzisław Szymański’s children – Anna and Paweł Szymański.
